To obtain the BSB51319 Diploma in Work Health and Safety, you must achieve competency in 9 units, which consist of 5 core units and; 4 elective units, of which:
• At least 3 units must be Group A
• The remaining unit may be from Group A or Group B or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level.

  • BSBWHS515 - Lead initial response to and investigate WHS incidents
  • BSBWHS516 - Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining an organisation’s WHS              management system
  • BSBWHS519 - Lead the development and use of WHS risk management tools
  • BSBWHS522 - Manage WHS consultation and participation processes

GROUP A UNITS

  • BSBWHS517 - Contribute to managing a WHS information system
  • BSBWHS518 - Manage WHS hazards associated with maintenance and use of plant
  • BSBWHS520 - Manage implementation of emergency procedures

GROUP B UNITS

  • BSBSTR502 - Facilitate continuous improvement
  • BSBTWK502 - Manage team effectiveness
  • BSBWHS521 - Ensure a safe workplace for a work area
  • TAEDEL401 - Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning

The completion of all core units in BSB41419 certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent competencies. Equivalent competencies are predecessors to the following units, which have been mapped as equivalent:

  • BSBWHS412 – Assist with compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS413 – Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management
  • BSBWHS415 – Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS4126 – Contribute to workplace incident response

WHAT IT REQUIREMENTS DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE?
You will need regular access to a laptop, desktop computer, or another device with an adequate and reliable Internet connection, at least the equivalent of Microsoft Office or Office for Mac, with word-processing capabilities and spreadsheets and a PDF reader installed. Access to organisational policies and procedures, relevant acts, regulations, and standards and to a workplace where you can complete your assessments as a safety supervisor under a supervisor.

WHAT SUPPORT IS PROVIDED?
All support is provided by IPS. You can book in coaching calls when you need them as well as send through support requests to be answered by our Learning Coaches.

WHAT ARE THE ASSESSMENTS?
There are no exams for the course. All assessments involve questioning, product-based methods, direct observation, and third-party evidence.

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE TAKE?
Our courses are self-paced, meaning you can study around your lifestyle. No strict deadlines. No inflexible classes to work around. No pressure to work on someone else’s schedule. Depending on the time you commit and your learning style, studying part-time, you could complete the course in approximately 20 months.

HOW IS THE COURSE DELIVERED?
The course is delivered 100% online. We use engaging videos and have supporting content downloads available so you can study on your terms. You can watch or listen to our video tutorials on your commute, read through transcripts and take notes at your desk, or download the content to keep up with your studies while traveling. You’ll complete written activities and practical assessment tasks to demonstrate what you’ve learned throughout the unit.

WHEN CAN I START?
We have no restrictive intake periods, so you can start as soon as we’ve processed your course registration and official enrolment form. This is typically done in as little as two business days. We also have options to start your payment plan while delaying your course commencement date until you’re ready to begin studying within three months.

I WORK FULL TIME, CAN I ACCESS MY COACH AFTER HOURS?
